John Deere Landscapes Breaks Ground on Major New Facility
Romeo, Michigan

John Deere Landscapes, the nation's leading supplier of landscape and irrigation equipment and nursery products, has announced the opening of a major new facility in Romeo, Michigan, approximately 40 miles north of Detroit.

A ground-breaking ceremony attended by senior John Deere Landscapes staff marked the start of construction on the new distribution center, which will encompass more than 12 acres. The branch is scheduled to open in Spring 2003.

John Deere Landscapes, with 250 locations across the United States and Canada, primarily serves landscape and irrigation contractors, landscape designers and architects. The new Romeo facility will feature landscape and irrigation supplies, nursery stock, landscape lighting and water gardening equipment, in addition to seed, fertilizer and other green industry products.

"The Romeo branch is strategically situated to serve the expanding population of greater Macomb County," said David P. Werning, president, John Deere Landscapes.

"Landscape construction and renovation are among the fastest-growing segments of the home building and home improvement industries," said Werning.

"This new location will provide greater convenience for landscape and irrigation professionals, a wider range of premium products and expanded selections of top quality nursery stock," he said.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Werning and John Jenkins, president, John Deere Commercial and Consumer Equipment Division, along with senior John Deere Landscapes staff. They included: Mark Nattinger, senior vice president of sales; Richard Commyn, regional vice president; and Bob Neumaier, area manager.

John Deere Landscapes is a division of Deere & Company, headquartered in Moline, Illinois. For more information on John Deere Landscapes, visit www.JohnDeereLandscapes.com.
